Music/Canary Islands International Music Festival
 Auditorio de Tenerife (Sala Sinfónica)

The closing concerts of the 36º Festival Internacional de Música de Canarias [36th Canary Islands International Music Festival] bring to the island one more exceptional ensemble: the Orchestre de Paris. Two generations of talent will meet again in these concerts: maestro Christoph Eschenbach will share the stage with 18-year-old Swedish violinist Daniel Lozakovich to play Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. The French orchestra will end the Festival with Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz.

Maestro Eschenbach (Wroclaw, Poland, 1940) will turn 80 just a few days after his 36th FIMC concert. He was one of the first international conductors to perform in the Canary Islands, back in 1985, on the first year our festival was held. After half a century on international podiums, he is still a much sought-after guest conductor by the best orchestras and opera houses in the world.

The long history of the Festival Internacional de Música de Canarias, as well as its promising future, is evident by the fact that a soloist who was born in the 21st century features in our programme for the first time. Despite his youth, when reading Daniel Lozakovich’s CV (Stockholm, 2001) one gest the feelings he is someone who has had a long career. Daniel has already played as a soloist throughout Europe with different orchestras in addition to many chamber music international performances and receiving many awards.

The Orchestre de Paris, major French symphony ensemble, is made up by 119 musicians who give about one hundred concerts every season at the Philharmonie de Paris and on international tours. This year the ensemble has started a new phase, as it has taken on a major role with a specific department within the artistic project of the Philharmonie de Paris.
