Three conferences and the inauguration of an exhibition coincide with World Theatre Day
Delirium Teatro is to begin its ‘40 Delirios’ (40 Deliria) project in collaboration with the Auditorio de Tenerife to celebrate its 40 years of activity as a theatre company. The events, to take place in Tacoronte and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, begin next week, coinciding with World Theatre Day and consisting of three conferences and the inauguration of an exhibition on the company’s history.
The conference Proyectos de resistencia (Resistance projects ) will kick off the celebration on Tuesday, 25 March at 7.30 p.m. at Auditorio Capitol in Tacoronte. Admission is free of charge, subject to capacity. This opening event will bring together firms and professionals whose perseverance, creativity and adaptability have allowed them to overcome recent challenges. Hosted by José Luis Figueroa, the conversation is to highlight the importance of identity, sustainability and innovation in the continuity of these projects, revealing a stimulating view of how commitment and passion can be the keys to withstanding and prospering in times of uncertainty.
The next day, Wednesday 26 March, the La Salita hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife will offer the conference Compañías emergentes y consolidadas on recently created and established companies, at 7.30 p.m., with free entry until full capacity is reached. This intergenerational and pluralistic dialogue, moderated by the renowned playwright Luis O’Malley, will provide an enriching look at the dynamics of producing theatre, exploring emerging companies’ challenges and opportunities while celebrating well-established trajectories.
The event will feature the participation of Mario Vega, a renowned director and producer, who will share his wealth of experience in cultural management and the creation of shows that have made an impact in Spain and internationally; Gaviera, the emerging company that has committed to innovation and exploration of the body as a stage language since it was founded in 2022; Cabaret Papaya, a young and bold initiative that blends humour, social critique and music in its unique approach to cabaret; Rosa Escrig, the creator of new plays, original texts and a stage language in which the soundscape acquires a special importance; and Delirium Teatro, a benchmark on the Canarian scene that will contribute its experience in establishing a theatre company and its perspective on the evolution of theatre in the archipelago.
On Thursday, 27 March, and in relation to World Theatre Day, the city of Tacoronte has prepared a programme that focusses on reflection, celebration and artistic expression. The date holds great significance for the performing arts worldwide and will be the perfect backdrop for the inauguration of the exhibition ‘40 Delirios’, a project that commemorates four decades of experience of Delirium Teatro. The event is to start at 7.30 p.m., followed by the reading of a manifesto. A live performance of 101 Brass Band and Arístides Moreno will put the finishing touch on the evening’s events.
The first week of activities of ‘40 Delirios’ is to conclude on Friday, 28 March, with the conference ‘Premios Nacionales de Teatro’ (National Theatre Awards), which will bring together the members of Delirium Teatro and professionals from the domestic theatre scene to discuss the evolution and challenges of theatre, as well as its impact on today’s society. The conference is to begin at 7.30 p.m. in the La Salita hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife.
The Art Director of the Auditorio de Tenerife, José Luis Rivero, is to host the event, which will feature the participation of Delirium Teatro, the director, actor and playwright Andrés Lima, awarded with the Spanish National Theatre Prize 2019 and founder of the theatre company Animalario, and Ana Belén Santiago, the Art Director of Teatro del Barrio, a project that received the 2024 National Theatre Award.

There will also be a debate on current challenges in the sector, the sustainability of companies and the future of the theatre scene in Spain and the Canaries.
This event is a chance to get a first-hand look at the vision of professionals who have shaped the course of contemporary theatre and to share reflections on the present and future of performing arts.
40 Delirios is an integral project celebrating Delirium Teatro’s 40th anniversary. It is designed to showcase the company’s 40 years of creativity for its fans and the institutions and artists that have worked with them over the last four decades. The project seeks to commemorate the company’s lengthy history throughout 2025, which is extraordinary in Spain.
