37TH FIMC EDITION: BASEL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
The Basel Chamber Orchestra is one of the leading orchestras on the current classical scene in this format. It participates in this 37th International Music Festival of the Canary Islands under the baton of Pedro Halffter to present the world premiere 'Melancolía' by Cristóbal Halffter, one of the great Spanish composers of the last half-century. They will also perform Beethoven and Chopin. The prestigious pianist Ivo Pogorelich, a "poet of the instrument", will play Chopin’s piano concert. Pogorelich is also one of the first pianists who participated in the FIMC Festival, back in 1986.
