Flamenco singer Miguel Poveda and guitarist Jesús Guerrero interpret ‘Poema del cante jondo’ at the Auditorio de Tenerife.

In a magical melding of disciplines, Miguel Poveda embarks on a new musical journey together with guitarist Jesús Guerrero to breathe life into the evocative texts of ‘Poema del cante jondo’ (poem of deep singing), written by the poet Federico García Lorca. Their new album, one of the most successful in flamenco in recent years, has Miguel singing stronger than ever and interpreting brilliantly the texts of his beloved and admired Federico. Every measure of the album's music reveals a meticulously woven tapestry of the rich heritage of traditional flamenco singing and the ‘deep poetry’ of Federico. Guitarist Jesús Guerrero, born in the Andalusian village of San Fernando, is an expert accompanist who uniquely enhances Miguel's inspired singing.

Poema del cante jondo is not only a recording of music but an intimate encounter with the roots of flamenco and the artists' lifelong passion for this art form with singing, guitar, percussion, clapping and, of course, poetry. Miguel and Jesús are touring the album in a series of recitals that offer spectators masterful interpretations of flamenco imbued with the lyrical essence of Federico. The poet's words are brought to life by Miguel's inimitable voice and the artists' recreation of the purest and most unadulterated conflict that sparked the birth of flamenco. This fusion of Lorca's earthiest poetry and the expressiveness of the singing and guitar of this artistic duo creates a unique experience in which the emotional intensity of cante jondo is intertwined with the poet's deep reflections on the soul of flamenco. Hence, the tour offers spectators an intimate encounter in which the purest flamenco takes centre stage along with the wealth of cultural heritage from which the genre emerged, leaving no one indifferent.

Access is only allowed to those over five years of age.
