Auditorio de Tenerife presents Mikael Godée & Eve Beuvens Quartet in concert.

Saxophonist Mikael Godée and pianist Eve Beuvens will present their new works with their band in their ever elegant, melodic sound. Swedish Godée, winner of a Grammy Award, and the Belgian pianist Beuvens will lead this concert at Auditorio de Tenerife.

Chance does things well: it only took a few clicks on Myspace for Mikael and Eve to meet. Nine years later and after tens of concerts they are releasing their second record as a quartet: "Looking Forward".

From the very beginning the two musicians naturally took to each other. They added bass player Magnus Bergström and Johan Birgenius at the drums (one of the best-liked rhythmic sections in Sweden) to set up the MEQ quartet, that stands for Mikael-Eve-Quartet.

The repertoire, surprisingly homogenous, consists of original themes by Eve and Mikael, as they are both co-leaders. Through mutual trust shared by the four of them, they take on risks that make the music flow very naturally.

Although their music draws on Nordic lyricism, it is also energetic, unique and warm: a stroll through a forest full of surprising colours in the Distant North.

Mikael Godée: soprano saxophone

Eve Beuvens: piano

Johan Birgenius: drums

Magnus Bergström: double bass
