Singers and composers Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Salvador Sobral are joining forces in what will surely be an unforgettable recording. They will tour together in 2025 to promote an album of new songs that reflects their desire to take their friendship further and to let it drive their creativity. The project is also a celebration of other friends and sources of inspiration in their lives. Several composers who are close to them, including Jorge Drexler, Luísa Sobral and Lau Noah, have contributed their songs to the new recording.

Preparations are underway for the album's release in several countries over several months. The title is to be announced in early 2025.

‘Salvador's voice is golden. It's transparent like he is, and it can spin dreams from clouds, giving you chills if you listen closely, or getting under your skin and making you laugh when he sings with that elastic, low register of his. His voice runs the gamut, from the most fragile intimacy to pure horseplay, and he has an ear that appreciates the beauty and creativity of those around him. His sincerity is uncommon.  When he sings alone, his voice is a very special thing, and when he sings with other artists, it embraces and enhances theirs, as if they'd always sung together.

I met him before everything changed; before the great changes in his life and his peculiar experiences. It's very hard to put yourself in his shoes. I remember hearing that lovely voice of his and his extraordinary solo act at a jazz club in Lisbon. Afterwards, when everything had changed, I also remember that beautiful voice of his, his playfulness and desire to collaborate and share with musicians, and his sense of the present that makes every song he sings a celebration of life.

After singing, crying and laughing together, we both naturally felt the urge to continue sharing moments and songs, and we thought it would be lovely to honour our friends who are contemporary composers by singing their songs’.

Sílvia Pérez Cruz, November 2024

‘When I first heard the voice of Sílvia Pérez Cruz, it was as if I'd found the origin of singing. Whenever her vocal cords vibrated, a completely new yet ancestral world would open up before me.
From that day onwards, I couldn't stop listening to her. Her voice accompanied me in my sadness and bitterness, my happiness and elation, my illness and hope.
When we met years later, my admiration went beyond her music. I saw someone with many years of experience who maintained a pure, genuine and honest relationship with music. The things she transmitted to me, both musically and personally, were teachings that I still remember on every stage and in every note I sing.
When we finally sang together, all those emotions from the past came together in our voices, which melted into one.
They say you should never meet your heroes, but nobody ever said anything about sharing a stage with them’.
