Alizulh
electronic duet
Alizulh is a musical project on which the artists Héctor Matacherry (Anhelo) and Santi Pérez (Svesda) embarked in 2022 in Gran Canaria. The creative duo use musical research to infuse a repertoire of their compositions with combinations of electronic and electric-acoustic sounds, to which they add organic elements and sounds taken from everyday life and other sources. Alizulh, which means joy, was the name the Phoenicians gave to the Canary Islands upon their arrival in the archipelago. With this in mind, the duo penned their first composition, "In Your Arms", a piano piece originally conceived by Héctor. The composition was then expanded with rhythmic textures, the sounds of objects and items at hand, spontaneous lyrics and an improvised melody, along with the tears produced by the composition's underlying emotion. They released their first recordings in 2024 on Lambada Records in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
