Gara Hernández

Gara Hernández Sánchez is a musicologist and a noise artist. At this time, she is studying a doctorate in queer musicology associated with noise experimentation. Her work focusses on the politicisation of sound through acoustic discomfort and theoretical speculation on the evolution of noise, sound and the identity-related policies of queer bodies. As director of the e-zine ‘Cultural Resuena’, her academic research and work with noise explore the relationship between sexogeneric dissidence and noise experimentation and delve into the concept of performative horrorism in noise. She has worked under several artist residencies, such as Festival HER in Tenerife and La Aceitera in Seville. Her project Nervio Ignoto with artist Calma Parda is responsible for numerous performative presentations in Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid and other cities.
