Salvador Sobral

Salvador Sobral has lived in the United States, Mallorca and also Barcelona, where he studied jazz for two years at the prestigious Taller de Músics school. During that time abroad, he composed his own songs, formed several projects and discovered his musical identity. In 2016, he launched his first solo album ‘Excuse Me’. In 2017, he performed at the Eurovision Song Contest, interpreting ‘Amar pelos Dois’, written by his sister Luísa Sobral, and won with the contest's all-time highest score. Since then, he has garnered awards, accolades and enthusiastic press coverage at home and abroad. In early 2019, he launched his second album ‘Paris, Lisboa’, embarking on an extensive tour of his native Portugal and the world. Along with his solo career, he has been involved in multiple projects spanning several musical genres and formations: Noko Woi, Alexander Search, Mutrama, Alma Nuestra, Quinta das Canções and, more recently, ‘Salvador Sobral canta Brel’. His third studio album, titled ‘bpm’, was released in May 2021. Largely recorded in February 2021 at the Le Manoir de Léon recording studio in France, the album is comprised entirely of original material penned in collaboration with Leo Aldrey, who produced the recordings. An EP titled ‘SAL’ was released in September 2022 with one original song and three more from his live repertoire that had not yet been released. Recorded at his home with piano and vocals, it is a musical journey and an invitation to explore his intimacies. In 2023, fulfilling a lifelong dream, he performed for the first time in Brazil, where he was warmly welcomed at sold-out venues. A little over a month after that, ahead of the release of a new recording of his original material, three singles appeared on the market: ‘Al llegar’ (feat. Jorge Drexler), ‘De la mano de tu voz’ (feat. Silvana Estrada) and ‘Pedra quente’. His fourth studio album ‘TIMBRE’ was released on 29 September 2023. In February 2024, he was the first Portuguese artist, along with Silvia Pérez Cruz, to sing at the prestigious Goya Awards ceremony, which turned out to be one of the evening's most memorable moments. Caetano Veloso said of him: ‘(…) He's one of the greatest singers alive today’. Sobral has collaborated with artists such as Caetano Veloso, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Tim Bernardes, Zé Ibarra, Silvana Estrada, Jorge Drexler, Mayra Andrade, António Zambujo, Marco Mezquida, Lau Noah, Luísa Sobral and Milhanas.
