Luces de Bohemia [Bohemian Lights] was performed from 18 to 22 October 2017 in Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville and was sold out all five days. This is a major production. Valle-Inclán portrays a fresco of early 20th century middle-class and bohemian Spain, which in truth is just a caricature or “grotesque deformation of European civilization”, which can be applied today as our current society is portrayed in different ways. Therefore, it is perfectly valid today.

The company Teatro Clásico de Sevilla is directed by Juan Motilla and Noelia Diez, and it includes the background and experience of many professionals of the performing arts. Its members come from different areas, such as La Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico, “La Jácara”, “Esperpento”, Instituto del Teatro, La Real Escuela de Arte Dramático, Centro Andaluz de Teatro, as well as film and TV. The company was set up with the aim of bringing classic plays to the public which is increasingly less familiar with them. They are interesting for their artistic and literary value, because they connect with the local collective memory and that abroad.
