The singer Dulce Pontes is giving a concert at 9:00 pm on Saturday, the 14th at Auditorio de Tenerife as part of the programme of Festival Mar Abierto. The artist, who is known for her interpretation of Portuguese fado, presents her new double record, Peregrinaçao, at Sala Sinfónica. A journey to the inner self, to the emotions, to life in difficult times.

The fact that Peregrinação is bilingual -a recognition of Iberia- is no hindrance for the twenty-two songs in the records to keep a coherent musical line. The first record, Nudez, in Portuguese, is shaped from austerity and in it, Dulce Pontes goes from pianist to drum, djembe, bottle percussionist, and whatever else that can be tapped out. The second record, Puertos de Abrigos, mainly in Spanish, includes two songs in Galician-Portuguese and in English.

It has taken five years to shape Peregrinaçao, as she has carefully crafted every sound with the collaboration of António Pinheiro da Silva. The Portuguese city of Bragança has been the epicentre in the preparation of this conceptual work.

Dulce Pontes, born in Montijo (Portugal) in 1969, won the Festival Nacional de la Canción in her country in 1991. That same year she represented Portugal at the Eurovision Festival, where she took the award for best singer. That was the first time Europe heard the voice of Dulce Pontes. Since then, her life has taken a new turn as she immersed herself in the roots of Portuguese music, including traditional fado.

Tickets for the Dulce Pontes concert at Auditorio de Tenerife can be booked at the box office from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm, Monday to Saturday except holidays, here or calling 902 317 327.
