Auditorio de Tenerife presents the Tenerife Percussion Camp of Festival de Música Contemporánea de Tenerife FMUC, to be held on 15 and 16 June at Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias (registration needed). There is a show at the end, on Sunday, the 16 at 6:30 pm in the Conservatorio.
This is a meeting point for professional percussionists, students, amateurs and all those who have an interest in percussion. Here they can share, learn and enjoy music. On the one hand, there are classes in drum, Latin and classical percussion for professionals and students with musical training; on the other hand, there is a series of African and Brazilian percussion workshops for amateurs, plus workshops for families. This is a way of furthering the kind of proposal FMUC and TPC can offer. Finally, there will be a free entry concert where teachers, (professional and amateur) students and families will take part.
The teachers are Roberto Amor, one of the most sought-after drums on the islands; Fede Beuster who is also a major drum in the Canaries, his teaching work focusing on a pedagogic programme to make this instrument known; José Carlos Cubas, is giving the Latin percussion classes in the areas of tamal, rhythms, cuts and ensemble with other instruments; Charli Llácer, Carlos Castañeda and Verónica Cagigao are dealing with classical percussion; Nuria Herrero is focusing on Brazilian music; and Andrea Domínguez and Ignacio Jiménez, are jointly taking care of the Ritmo y Música en Familia workshop which deals with musical learning through playing and artistic creation.
With Tenerife Percussion Camp, the FMUC has given an innovative leap and has got going an ambitious training section which is joined by professional and amateur percussionists from across the Canaries. This is already an international model in this type of events.
Para el concierto final del campamento la entrada es libre hasta completar aforo.
