Tha magic flute (Mozart)

The Magic Flute is a Singspiel in two acts with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and libretto in German by Emanuel Schikaneder. It was premiered at the Theater auf der Wieden (currently Theater an der Wien) in Vienna on 30 September 1791, under the baton of Mozart himself just two months before his death.

Even though it was not popular until the 1980s with Milos Forman’s film Amadeus, Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) is now one of Mozart’s iconic pieces thanks to its beautiful melodies and its fairy tale appearance. But in fact, the snake, the bird-catcher, and the Prince are searching for love; the princess, manipulated by her evil mother and the priest of high moral values tell a story of lights and shadows that conceals many references to masonry. 

We all know the notes that go with the appearance of Papageno and his hilarious duet with Papagena, the two arias of the Queen of the Night and Sarastro’s solemn page as well as the duets between Pamina and Tamino. At the Auditorio, we can experience them all over again in an in-house production for families.
