THE BUFOON’S SERMON
A coproduction by Teatros del Canal and Teatro Marquina
El sermón del bufón is a most unusual act in the history of our theatre. It is not fiction, as is always the case on the stage. It is the direct and real account of an artist voicing his thoughts and performing actual situation of his own life.
Ever keeping his sense of humour, Albert Boadella unfolds a personality that lies between the child and the old artist, between the indomitable and the civic-minded, the histrionic and the reflective.
By playing himself, he makes a caustic review of the job of the comedian and casts an ironic glance at his eventful life with Els Joglars in the background, the independent theatre company he directed until 2012. The screening of the most relevant passages of his plays are mixed with daring reflections on beauty and transgression, taboos of modernity, the stimulation prompted by enemies or reality as the supreme objective of life.
The famous Barcelona actor and comedian talks about his life, profession and thoughts by watching, with the audience, videos showing some of the highlights of his career, quotes from newspapers and other elements which make up a show where Boadella is the sole protagonist.
