THE SUITCASE

Pedro Lezcano is a key writer in Canarian literature, a must-read regarding poetry, fiction and theatre. With his brother, who he was very close to throughout his life, he founded Teatro Insular de Cámara in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He was a theatre lover and his plays include Desconfianza or La ruleta del sur. He won the Premio Nacional de Teatro del Ateneo 1945 in Madrid for the first one. He was a playwright, an actor, and director of the company he founded, which staged several of his theatre plays. Theatre companies Teatro KDO and FIREWORKS, through this Canarian coproduction, wish to pay tribute to this artist by using his poem LA MALETA (The Suitcase) in a street performance written by Quique and Yeray Bazo and directed by José Pedro Hernández.
