The result, titled Bocas-carne: fricción ruidista will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m. at La Salita in the Auditorio de Tenerife.

The artists Gara Hernández and Nathaly de la Cruz will share the results of their residency at the Auditorio de Tenerife this Saturday (5th April) at 7 p.m. in La Salita, with free entry until full capacity is reached. The encounter, titled Bocas-carne: fricción ruidista, marks the culmination of the artistic work that both Canarian creators have been developing individually and collaboratively since 24th March. The Laboratory of Live Arts and Citizenship of the Canary Islands, better known by its Spanish acronym ‘LAV-C’, has collaborated in her residency.

Between pleasure and discomfort, Bocas-carne: fricción ruidista is a residency that explores the limits between language, the emission of noise and pain in contrast with pleasure, the harmonious and the visual. The residency is a conversation about the performative noise of Gara Hernández, which is intended to pierce the onstage body of Nathaly de la Cruz. The concept establishes a reflection on sound and image, their opposing interaction, and the space occupied by aesthetic actions in the evolution of the urgency of sensorial pleasure.

Gara Hernández is a musicologist and a noise artist. At this time, she is studying for a doctorate in queer musicology associated with noise experimentation. Her work focuses on the politicisation of sound through acoustic discomfort and theoretical speculation on the evolution of noise, sound and the identity-related policies of queer bodies. She has worked under several artist residencies, such as Festival HER in Tenerife and La Aceitera in Seville. Her project Nervio Ignoto with artist Calma Parda is responsible for numerous performative presentations in cities such as Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid.

Nathaly de la Cruz studied at Escuela Lecuona, of Actores Madrid, and at Escuela Ápice. In the world of cinema, she has participated in several shorts. In addition, she has worked as a model and has appeared in video clips such as those of Cruz Cafuné and Ptazeta. She received a special mention for best interpretation in the Tenerife Noir 2022 and 2023 film festival for the shorts Boris and Grito. She acted in the film ‘De perdidos a Río‘ directed Joaquín Mazón, in the series ‘Treinta monedas‘ of Álex de la Iglesia and ‘Canarias de leyenda‘ of José Ramayo, and she took part in ‘Showtime,’ directed by Cristian Velasco.  She is currently engaged in an artist residency in Graner along with Laboratorio de Artes Vivas de Canarias, where she collaborates in other programmes.

As part of the Voz y cuerpo (Voice and Body) artistic residencies organised by the Auditorio de Tenerife for La Salita, this proposal is included in the collaboration with the Laboratory of Live Arts and Citizenship of the Canary Islands (LAV-C). Under this alliance, the project led by cultural director Beatriz Bello and artist Darío Bardam has scheduled three residencies of young and performance-orientated Canarian creators.

Entry is free until the show reaches its total capacity. The show is recommended for audiences over 16 years of age. The artists advise spectators sensitive to light and/or sound that certain moments in the performance feature strobe lighting effects and elevated, intense sound levels.
