The concert provides a professional platform for students of the clarinet, saxophone, and band specialities.
The Auditorio de Tenerife hosts on Saturday, 5 April, at 6 p.m. in the Chamber Hall a concert by pupils of the Professional Music Conservatoire (CPM) of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The ensembles participating in this event are the Clarinet Ensemble, the Saxophone Ensemble and the Band of the 2nd year of Professional Education. Entry is free until total capacity is reached.
The concert will begin with the Clarinet Ensemble, under the direction of Javier Llopis, performing Clare Grundman’s Caprice. Following this, accompanied on piano by Anabel Fumero, they will present Freddie Mercury’s iconic Bohemian Rhapsody, arranged by Lisa Ochoco. The programme continues with Rikudim (Four Israeli Folk Dances) by Jan van der Roost and concludes with Jacob de Haan’s The Blues Factory.
The stage will then be taken over by the Saxophone Ensemble. Directed by Orestes de Armas, the ensemble of conservatory students will perform The Ludlows – Legends of the Fall (arranged by D’Armas) by James Horner and Merry-Go-Round of Life – Howl’s Moving Castle (arranged by Griffin Michalak) by Joe Hisaishi. At this point, Ariadne D’Armas joins as a soloist to play Dreaming – Cinderella (arranged by D’Armas) by Patrick Doyle. The programme concludes with Contigo en la distancia (arranged by David Hernández) by César Portillo de la Luz and It Don’t Mean a Thing (arranged by D’Armas) by Duke Ellington.
The band of the 2nd year of Professional Education at the Professional Music Conservatoire of Tenerife takes the stage, led by conductor Javier Llopis. The repertoire opens with Música y Vinos (Pasodoble de Concierto) by Manuel Morales and Columbus (Episodio Sinfónico) by Hugo Chinesta. Following this, with Lucía Gorostiza Felipe as the soloist, they will perform The Prince of Egypt by Stephen Schwartz. The concert concludes with Latin Gold by Paul Lavender.
Through these activities, the Professional Conservatoire of Santa Cruz de Tenerife encourages pupils to participate outside the school environment. This initiative seeks to present to the public, in a professional setting, the skill and dedication demonstrated by the students and teachers of these ensembles from the conservatoire.
