Conchita Piña and Antonio Tabares take part in the event on Monday in Tenerife and on Thursday in Tacoronte

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the founding of the company Delirium Teatro, the programme 40 Delirios returns next week with another event. Publisher Conchita Piña and playwright Antonio Tabares will discuss contemporary playwriting and theatrical publishing. The first discussion will take place on Monday, 21 April, at 7.30 p.m. in the La Salita hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife, and the second is scheduled for Thursday, 24 April, at 7 p.m. at the Casa de la Cultura cultural centre in Tacoronte.

Both events will analyse the creation, publishing and dissemination of contemporary theatrical scripts and the current state and challenges of contemporary playwriting in Spain. This event is a chance to get a first-hand look at the vision of professionals who have shaped the course of contemporary theatre and to share reflections on the present and future of performing arts.

The talks will analyse subjects such as creative processes in modern playwriting, the publishing of theatrical texts, and how new dramatists are changing theatre. They will also discuss the importance of publishers’ initiatives and the need for creating networks of support for emerging authors.

Conchita Piña is a co-founder of Ediciones Antígona, a publishing house specialising in contemporary theatrical scrips. In addition to overseeing a wide range of collections and directing cultural and educational projects, her theatrical agency, Conchita Piña Agencia de Teatro, has promoted contemporary playwrights. She is a Spanish Performing Arts Academy member and a co-founder of Liga de las Mujeres Profesionales del Teatro.

Antonio Tabares is a Canarian dramatist known for his works La sombra de don Alonso, La punta del iceberg and Proyecto Fausto, among others. His collaboration with Delirium Teatro proved to be essential for staging numerous productions that have garnered acclaim in Spain and abroad. His texts have been translated into several languages and have been chosen for prestigious accolades such as the Tirso de Molina Award, the Pérez Minik Award, and the Réplica Award for Best Theatrical Author.

These activities are part of 40 Delirios, an integral project celebrating Delirium Teatro’s 40th anniversary. It is designed to showcase the company’s 40 years of creativity for its fans and the institutions and artists that have worked with them over the last four decades. The project seeks to commemorate the company’s lengthy history throughout 2025, which is extraordinary in Spain. The various activities planned present a unique opportunity to highlight the company’s professional experience and show that artists can make a career of creativity and professional development in the Canary Islands.
