The Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria (OFGC), a cultural leader on the Island, will return for the 38thconsecutive year to the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands (FIMC). Since 1980, the OFGC has been undertaking continuous and stable musical activity, with a notable increase in its symphonic and lyrical performances. Great maestros and soloists have accompanied the orchestra since its inception – something which also highlights the commitment to the society of Gran Canaria and to the Orchestra's educational work.

In this edition, and under the direction of main conductor Karel Mark Chichon, the orchestra is presenting a very special programme that includes the Festival's commissioned work by Canarian composer Dori Díaz-Jerez: 'Omega', inspired by Mahler's Fifth.

This will be followed by a performance of the 4th movement of this symphony (Adagietto). They will end with 'Romeo and Juliet' by Prokofiev.
