The production company Mar Abierto launches the 2021 season. It also celebrates its 15th anniversary with one of the best voices of the Canarian Islands: Pedro Guerra, who visits the islands after presenting his new work: ‘El Viaje’ (The Journey). The artist plays in the Auditorio de Tenerife on the 15th of July at 8:00 pm.
According to the musician, the project 'El Viaje' started two years ago when the composer 'Pablo Cebrián and I decided, at first, to get together to compose songs. Later we decided to work together on what would be my eighteenth album. We had known each other for a long time, but not as well as we would get to know each other from then on. The good connection and understanding between us existed from the very beginning, he says. "This paved the way for us to take two years to create 'El Viaje' (The Journey) in a slow, conscious and dedicated way.
The roadmap was clear: "to visit my sound universe that has been so decisive throughout my career and to give it the necessary touch of topicality. Thus, in 'El Viaje', Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, the Canary Islands, pop music, instruments like the charango, the timple, the classical guitar, the Cuban tres and electric guitars, the drum kit and the folk drums of the Islands..." assures Pedro Guerra.
The artist also recalls that, apparently, Fellini always had in mind to make a masterpiece called "The Voyage of G. Mastorna". In his eagerness, he ended up making all his films, but never the one he had so longed for. "This inspired the song 'El Viaje', the title track of this album. This is not the journey we think and wish for, it is the journey we finally live. The love journey: Cara y Cruz, Cuando Tú No Estás; the life-journey: El Viaje, Tú y Yo (done in the company of my admired Manuel Carrasco); the memory journey: Alzheimer; the ancestor's journey: La Delicadeza; the inner journey: Rastros, Atravesar una Isla; the outer journey: Ruego; the empathy and solidarity journey (that journey we want for all people); Espejo, La Arena del Circo, Sueño y Arrorró para un Miliciano. Finally, the calm and pleasant journey that I hope you all take when you listen to this album," concludes the artist.
