Auditorio de Tenerife (Sala Sinfónica) The 35th Festival Internacional de Música de Canarias closes with a concert by Jordi Savall and his Hespèrion XXI ensemble, an international model in the performance of early music. Set up in Basel (Switzerland) more than four decades ago, it is an essential orchestra to understand the development of music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque.
Their programme is called 'The Routes of Slavery, 1444-1888', a project Savall premiered last year which goes over four centuries of music inspired by the songs and dances of slaves travelling from Africa to America and European colonies.
