CHUCHO VALDÉS & IRAKERE 50
The 33rd Canary Islands' International Jazz & Más Festival brings Chucho Valdés and his show Chucho Valdés & Irakere 50 to the Auditorio de Tenerife.
Chucho Valdés & Irakere 50 is Chucho Valdés' homage to the Cuban group. It marked a turning point in Latin jazz due to its masterful fusion of Afro-Cuban ritual music with popular Cuban music, jazz, rock and classical music. Chucho Valdés will lead the relaunching of Irakere on a world tour, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the formation of the seminal group. The tour is scheduled to begin at the 33rd Canary Islands' International Jazz & Más Festival with Valdés, his quartet and a series of top-ranked Cuban musicians, including Carlos Averhoff Jr. (saxophone)-the son of a deceased former member of Irakere-and Valdés' son Julián (percussion).
