As part of its organ concert cycle, the Auditorio de Tenerife is offering, in collaboration with the Real Academia Canaria de Bellas Artes de San Miguel Arcángel (Racba), a matinee with organist Valentin Juan Luis Bardón.

Due to its wide range of sounds, over the centuries the organ has given rise to a unique genre: transcription, through which the orchestral repertoire becomes a genuine expression of the organ. From the 17th century on, this practice was normalised and achieved its greatest expression in the work of Bach, as a result of his interest in the study of the innovations of Vivaldi in the estilo concertato. In turn, other composers would do the same with the masterpieces of the maestro from Leipzig, such as the magnificent choral finale of his St Matthew Passion.

The transcription genre seems to have acquired special consideration in recent decades due to different factors. This includes the creation of instruments equipped with new expressive and timbric resources and the need for performers to delve into other broader languages. Thus, the revamped vision of the concerto emerges in which the organ resizes the quality of the orchestra. From Mozart to the minimalism of Hans Zimmer, to the suggestive harmonies of Fauré and Saint-Saëns, whose Carnival of the Animals becomes a compendium of the broad timbric palette of the instrument. The listener can undertake a sound journey through different aesthetics and forms, which along with the grandeur of the space, transform the concert into a total artistic experience.
