Lehmanns Brothers
Far from the shady bankers of New York, it is in Angoulême that in 2012, in a small garage on Lehmann Avenue, five high school students in music option, groove brothers who share the same passion for African-American rhythms, form this group. Influenced by funkers such as Prince, Ghost-Note & D’Angelo, these young French youths intend to revisit the famous jazz-funk of the seventies, while instilling hip-hop, house and nu-soul echoes in their compositions.

Here there are no covers, because these young musicians, with three EPs to their credit, present only compositions signed by the members of the group: guitarist Alvin Amaïzo, bassist Clément Jourdan, and keyboardist & singer Julien Anglade, in an incandescent rhythmic alchemy that has no reason to envy their prestigious references.

With its infernal rhythmic triangle supported by fiery brass, one can’t resist their repertoire for long, which makes one’s legs tingle and turns each of their concerts into a great mass of groove. It’s no coincidence that these Lehmanns Brothers, whose maturity commands respect, have already impressed audiences by opening for Macéo Parker, Fred Wesley, Electro Deluxe and the Wu-Tang Clan, before being selected from among some 700 groups to perform in Montreux in 2017, and then at the Blues-sur-Seine and Jazzahead festivals in Germany.

The Lehmanns Brothers are mainly a live band, which tours considerably in France but also beyond the borders: Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, England,… A following of fans is also starting to develop across the Atlantic, mainy thanks to their latest single “Rain”.

Julien Anglade: vocal, keyboard
