The FAM Festival (Arts and Movement Festival) brings Mucha muchacha, the large-scale debut of the dance company Mucha Muchacha, to the Espacio La Granja.

Mucha muchacha is a declaration of intentions embodying movement, community, femininity, and ritual through modern dance. In 2016, the company embarked on a journey to document the inspiring stories of the female artists of the generation of 1927, known as Las Sinsombrero (the hatless)These women, such as Maruja Mallo, Marga Gil, María Teresa León, Concha Méndez and Rosa Chacel, played a part in Spain's cultural unrest and societal modernisation in the 1920s and 1930s and were silenced by the Franco dictatorship in the wake of the Spanish Civil War. The undertaking, which began as a form of theoretical and practical research and ended up being the starting point of Mucha Muchacha, focuses on concepts of empowerment, determination, voice, participation, liberty and cooperation.

Mucha muchacha speaks to us of the present: what is happening and how women feel in these times. The company's creation aligns with the three forms of empowerment posited by the theoretician Jo Rowlands: "power to, power with, and power from within". In this way, the challenge taken on by Mucha muchacha is expressed through contemporary and Spanish dance while throwing them into chaos, using the capacity of transformation and dialogue with other arts.
