The Auditorio de Tenerife welcomes four concerts during the Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más.
An Evening with Avishai Cohen presents the usual trio with double bass, drums and piano. On this occasion, the musical trio will play integrated in a genuine and sophisticated way with a symphony orchestra, which gives an additional dimension to Cohen's distinctive sound. The programmes include settings of Cohen's own contemporary jazz and world music compositions. Likewise, it includes orchestrated traditional Hebrew and Ladino songs, as well as selected classical works. The arrangements encompass solo, trio and complete orchestra configurations. The result is a stimulating, close, yet musical experience with a very high effect.
Over the past two decades, the bass player, singer, composer, jazz visionary and innovator Avishai Cohen has earned a reputation as one of the greatest bassists of his time. In recent years he has gone a step further by adapting live projects with a complete symphony orchestra. It is a crowning achievement of his musical career that unites two worlds: classical and jazz music.
The Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife is one of the most prestigious orchestras in Spain thanks to its musical career, history, quality and innovative character over the years. In addition, it also represents Tenerife’s society both inside and outside our island. It was founded in 1935 and Antonio Méndez is currently the main conductor.
