He aquí un acto romántico
The FAM Festival (Arts and Movement Festival) has scheduled the show He aquí un acto romántico (Here's a romantic act) by Richard Mascherin in Espacio La Granja. This creator from the Canary Islands is a candidate for Best Male Dance Performer at the Max Awards for the Performing Arts 2024.
He aquí un acto romántico uses physical and emotional falling to create a map of human bodies thrown into the air. The piece starts with tense corporeality and an atmosphere of cinematographic inspirations. It is about three victims who ceremoniously assume a spiral of violent situations, making accidents, provocations, attachment and non-attachment a rite of passage towards transcendence.
There are two sides to this impassioned surrender. On the one hand, it intoxicates and endangers; on the other, it fortifies and enlivens because nobody can ultimately get on their feet before they fall down. Behold this declaration of something untameable. Behold this heroic resistance. Behold a romantic act.
In this manner, the piece ponders the following questions: What ends and what begins in an accident? Which is more potent: a blow to the head or a kiss on the lips? Is hatred merely another form of love? Do you desire my surrender? Would you still love me if I didn't need you? Can I fall with you? What truly defines a romantic act?
