Ópera en minúscula (small-format opera)  presents Kurt Weill's Mahagonny and The Seven Deadly Sins at the Espacio La Granja.

The journey of the sisters Anna through the world of vice in The Seven Deadly Sins and the incursion into the streets of a chaotic city in Mahagonny (Mahagonny Songspiel) are combined in a single work in this adaptation of two operas of the German composer Kurt Weill with texts of the playwright Bertolt Brecht. Its contemporary staging and ingenious scenography immerse spectators in the intricate worlds of these two pieces, which are woven into a coherent narrative that highlights their emotional depth and critical view of society. The Seven Deadly Sins was composed in 1933 as a ballet chanté (sung ballet). Its characters personify vices such as greed, wrath and lust, showing how they affect people’s lives and their relationships. Mahagonny, composed in 1927, takes spectators to a utopia that becomes an allegory of modern society by exploring subjects such as unbridled consumerism and alienation. The same six singers interpret both of the adapted operas: the sopranos Irina Avramenko and Sara Bañeras, the tenors Jorge Morata and David Ferri Durá, the baritone Fernando Piqueras, and the bass Pau Ferrer, accompanied by pianist José Martín and conductor Emilio López.
