Auditorio de Tenerife hosts XI Encuentro de Bandas de Música Juveniles next weekend
Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín welcomes XI Encuentro de Bandas Juveniles de la Isla [11th Tenerife Young Bands Gathering]. Sala de Cámara is the venue chosen for the performance of seven groups made up of dozens of young Tenerife musicians in addition to a special guest: La bandita de la Asociación Banda Municipal from Pájara, in Fuerteventura. The event is taking place on Saturday, 15th and Sunday 16th at 11:30 am. Admission is free.
The first band to play is from the school of Asociación Musical San Marcos Evangelista de Tegueste, with 30 musicians. Under the baton of Javier Pérez Hernández, they will be playing, The Magnificent Seven, by E. Bernstein (arranged by de J. Bull); Adventure Games, by E. Salvere; Toreador March, de G. Bizet (arranged by M. Story); and A. Dvorak’s New World Symphony, (arranged by M. Sweeney).
The next performers Banda de Iniciación José Mesa Cabrera de la Agrupación Musical Cruz Santa, conducted by Sofía González Batista, are offering Banana Split, by David Martín; Alan Menken’s Colours in the wind; and Spanish Brass, by E. Osterling.
The Banda Juvenil de la Asociación Musical Educando José León Medrado from Puerto de la Cruz, made up of 25 musicians and conducted by Iván Yeray Rodríguez Martín, have chosen the theme Aladdin (arranged by Paul Jennings); Michael Jackson Hit Mix (arranged by Johnnie Vinson); and All I want for Christmas is you (arranged by Frank Bernaerts).
To close the event on Saturday, Mark Williams’s Cimarron Overture, and Ennio Salvere’s PC Suite, have been chosen by the guest band Banda Juvenil La bandita de la Asociación Banda Municipal de Pájara, from Fuerteventura and conducted by Inmaculada Gómez Chica.
Sunday starts off with Banda Juvenil San José de la Academia de Música de la Asociación Musical XIX de Marzo. The 30 musicians conducted by Damián González García, will be playing A Round the Band, by David Shaffer; What a Wonderful World, by George Davis; American the Beautiful, by Robert W. Smith; and Alpha Squadron, by Greg Hillis.
It will then be the turn of Banda Juvenil de la Academia Princesa Yaiza from El Rosario, whose 18 musicians play under the baton of Taida Mª Gil Conde. Their repertoire includes Romanesque, by James Swearingen; George Gershwin’s An Amerian in Paris; and Christmas a little rock’n roll, by Sandy Feldstein.
Silvia Alonso Fariña leads Banda Juvenil Las Candelitas from Candelaria. Its 30 young musicians will play Es Vedrá, by José Alberto Pina; Schindler’s, by John Williams, which includes soloists David Delgado Hernández’s violin and Andrea Chico Díaz’s viola; and John Williams’s Jurassic Park.
Finally, the 42-strong Banda Juvenil Alejandro Poleo López of Asociación Musical Nueva Unión and Escuela Comarcal de música Baute Isla Baja. Conducted by Juana María Bolaños Polegre they will play Let it be, by John Lennon and Paul McCartney (arranged by Frank D. Cofield), Alan Menken’s Beauty and the Beast (arranged by Jay Bocook), Ben E. King’s Stand by me, (arranged by Andrew Watkin); and Karl Jenkins’s Adiemus, (arranged by Dammiano).
