Puerto de la Cruz Town Council is hosting a talk by Alejandro Abrante about this opera, to be put on next weekend

Ópera de Tenerife’s intendant, Alejandro Abrante, is giving a talk about The Traviata at 7:00 pm on Tuesday the 14th in the Salón de Plenos of Puerto de la Cruz Town Hall.  During the talk, Abrante will explain the artistic process involved in staging one of Giuseppe Verdi’s best-known operas. Admission is free.

The talk is one of the parallel activities related to this production which is on next weekend in the grounds of the former Hotel Taoro. The show is at 9:00pm on Saturday, the 18th and Sunday, the 19th. The production has been entirely made on the island and is part of the Ópera Pocket initiative. It has already been on stage in La Laguna and Garachico, and it was on in Adeje last weekend.

Apart from the talk tomorrow in Puerto de la Cruz, Alejandro Abrante is giving another talk at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, the 15th at Sociedad Cultural Liceo de Taoro, in La Orotava. This is the last talk in the Primavera Violeta series, a project that is promoted by the Cabildo, through Ópera de Tenerife, and La Laguna University, through Instituto de Estudios de las Mujeres, the Pedro Cabrera Cultural Chair and the vice-chancellor office for Relationships with the Community. The series aims at training for gender equality values through culture.
