Danza en Comunidad opens a call to perform at Auditorio’s Sala Sinfónica in June

Danza en Comunidad  starts the new term by opening a call to take part in La gran cita a ciegas [The great Blind Date], the show they are currently working on which will close the Festival Internacional de las Artes del Movimiento FAM [International Movement  Arts Festival]. It is also starting a new scheme,  Formación a formadores, [Training trainers] for those who wish to receive community dance tools in order to apply them in their work.

The aim of Danza en Comunidad is to have 200 people on stage to share the values of diversity, identity, living together and the physical pleasure of movement.

The Danza en Comunidad team is made up by working professional in areas of the performing arts and social work. This season it includes Carmen Macías, Raquel Jara, Tania Fernández, Cristina Marín plus project coordinator, Laura Marrero. Also, in La gran cita a ciegas they are joined by lighting designer Alfredo Díez Umpiérrez and Adrián González who will film the whole process.

This year Danza en Comunidad will work with twelve local groups: Asociación Aldis, Asociación Padre Laraña, Asociación de Padres Orobal, Centro Ocupacional San Miguel Amisur, Biblioteca Municipal Adrián Alemán de Armas, Centro de Adultos Hermano Pedro, Centro Municipal de Acogida – Servicio: Centro de Día, el Centro Penitenciario Tenerife 2, Centro de Integración Social Mercedes Pinto, Fundación de Juventud Canaria IDEO – CIEMI Valle Tabares, Programa La Casita – Oblatas and Proyecto Mujeres de Añaza Emprendedoras – Fundación el Buen Samaritano.

Danza en Comunidad is an artistic and outreach project included in Auditorio de Tenerife’s Education and Social Department under the Tenerife Danza scheme, although they carry out their activity out of the building too. The project aims to create different options to make dance available to all kinds of people, groups or associations that need to work using professional tools. The main and ultimate goal of Danza en Comunidad is to make up a community that provides mediation and resources for dance and movement.
