The Auditorio de Tenerife hosted the last concert of the "Primavera Musical" cycle
The bands of Garachico, San Andrés and El Sauzal closed this year's edition
On Sunday, 19 June, at 11:30 a.m., the Auditorio de Tenerife hosted the last concert of the "Primavera Musical" cycle at the Chamber Hall, gathering about one hundred wind band musicians from Garachico, Amigos del Arte (San Andrés, Santa Cruz) and San Pedro (El Sauzal). The cycle started in the year 2005 as an initiative of the federation 'Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música' with the collaboration of the Tenerife Island Council.
The wind band Agrupación Musical de Garachico began to play in the first half of the 19th century. Conducted by Antonio Gutiérrez, it performed three pieces from its repertoire: Miguel Carlos Gómez Perona, by Ferrer Ferrán, The Lion King, arranged by John Higgins, and finally The Blues Brothers Revue, with arrangements by Jay Bocook.
The band Agrupación Musical Amigos del Arte, from San Andrés, district of Santa Cruz de Tenerife performed four pieces. Conducted by Juan Antonio Domínguez, the band played Cortes de la Frontera, by Manuel Navarro Mollor, Lawrence of Arabia, by Maurice Jarre, arranged by John Glenesk Mortimer, 76 Trombones, by Meredith Wilson, arranged by Naohiro Iwai, and La La Land, by Michael Brown.
Francisco Jairo Cabrera, conductor of the band Agrupación Musical San Pedro, from El Sauzal, was on charge of closing this edition of the Primavera Musical concert cycle. For this occasion, the band prepared Música, maestro, by Manuel Navarro Mollor, Amapola, by José María Lacalle, arranged by Naohiro Iwai, and Malagueña, by Ernesto Lecuona, with arrangements by Michael Sweeney.
