The 2023-2024 season of the Sinfónica de Tenerife (Tenerife Symphony Orchestra), under the slogan Your music in good hands, includes 19 season concerts and the world première of two works: Tangaraste, by Gustavo Trujillo, and Elegía a Ruth Schweikert, by Antoni Parera Fons. The first event will be on 8 September in the Auditorio de Tenerife with the participation of the violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann in a programme conducted by Joseph Swensen. The orchestra’s activity is completed throughout the year with its regular involvement in the Opera de Tenerife, special programmes and socio-educational initiatives for the dissemination of symphonic music to new audiences.

The acting island Minister of Culture, Enrique Arriaga, stated that “tomorrow [Tuesday 13] marks the start of the period for renewing subscriptions where we have approved a considerable price reduction compared to previous years, with them costing from 162 Euros for the entire season.” The same applies to the tickets for each concert, whose prices have been set at 15 and 10 Euros according to the seating area in the Symphony Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife.

The acting island director of Culture, Alejandro Krawietz, highlighted that “the Island Council has maintained the idea of promoting the work of regional composers. To this end, it has given an opportunity to Gustavo Trujillo of Tenerife who is premièring his work Tangaraste. Likewise, he is responsible for curating the rest of the night’s programme, as was the case this season with Rubens Askenar.”

In addition to Gustavo Trujillo, there will be another regional composer in the season: Laura Vega. In total, there are 39 authors from every era who created the 53 works that the Sinfónica de Tenerife will perform in the season concerts. The programme notably includes the performance of the fifth symphonies by Beethoven – the opening event of the season – Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Sibelius and Nielsen.

Eighteen maestros will be facing the nineteen programmes. Víctor Pablo Pérez, an honorary conductor of the Orchestra, will participate in two concerts. As newcomers at the helm of the Sinfónica de Tenerife, there will be Paul Daniel, Julio García Vico, Ludovic Morlot and Emilia Hoving. Apart from Hoving, the women who will conduct the orchestra are Yi-Chen Lin, Marta Gardolinska, Tabita Berglund, Emilia Hoving, and Shiyeon Sung. One of the season highlights will once again have the tenor José Manuel Zapata conducting and presenting "The crazy history of music for Zapata and Orchestra"

Prominent national and international musicians will perform as guests. The musicians who will make their début during the upcoming season are the violinistsNikita Boriso-Glebsky and Bomsori Kim; the pianists Vadym Kholodenko, Martín García García, Zlata Chocieva, Yeol Eum Son, and Jaeden Izik-Dzurko; the cellists Bruno Philippe and Zlatomir Fung; Leo Rondón with the cuatro of Venezuela; The flautist Mathieu Dufour and the tenor Christian Elsner.

Carlos del Ser, the oboe soloist of the Sinfónica de Tenerife, and the percussion section will also play a key role during this season where piano (five programmes) and violin (4 programmes) are the most played instruments during the 19 concerts cycle. Apart from Christian Elsner, the singers Belén Elvira, Raquel Lojendio, Cristina Faus, and the members of the Coral Reyes Bartlet, under the direction of José Híjar Polo, will also participate during the season that kicks off on September 8, 2023.

The prices of the subscriptions have been set at 242 Euros for seats in Zone A of the Symphony Hall and 162 Euros for those in Zone B.
