This Saturday, the festival concludes its programme with the display of a creative residency about light, vertical dance and music

This Saturday (18th) marks the third week of NUMAcircuit 24 with a double bill at the Auditorio de Tenerife: the guitarist Stian Westerhus will perform in a concert taking place at 8:00 p.m. Beforehand, at 6:30 p.m., it will be possible to enjoy the show of the residency Excavación (Excavation) produced by the choreographer and dancer Vanesa Ávila and the visual artist Arístides García, Tenerife natives who reside in Paris and Berlin, respectively, together with Gonçalo Cardoso.

Stian Westerhus is one of northern Europe's most fascinating abstract guitarists. His album Didymoi Dreams with the vocalist Sidsel Endresen was a unique combination of abusing his guitar with surprising vocal outbursts. Alongside collaborations with leading figures from the experimental scene, such as Puma, Nils Petter Molvær, Jaga Jazzist and Britten Sinfonia, he has released three acclaimed solo albums with the prestigious label Rune Grammofon.

This time, he is headlining the line-up of the NUMAcircuit festival in an electronic rock duo alongside the percussionist Erland Dahlen, a former member of his previous group Pale Horse, whose songs have the freedom to ebb and flow, stretch and contract, as if in a set that has been completely improvised.

2024 marks the tenth edition of the artistic residencies co-produced by the festival and the Auditorio de Tenerife. Excavación (Excavation) draws on a format linked to the arts of movement. It is a multidisciplinary project where acrobatics on a vertical bar (pole dance) and contemporary dance, motion capture, lighting design, musical creation, and sound design are combined and interwoven. Over an intensely creative week, the residency provides an open and vibrant process.

NUMAcircuit defines itself as a collective platform for the creation and dissemination of new forms of artistic expression to offer a space and audience for artistic initiatives that are engaged with forms of contemporary creation, encouraging the emergence of projects and collaboration, and nurturing the critical judgement of an audience that is interested in avant-garde artistic approaches. You can find all the updated information on the festival on the website.
