This work, which has just been awarded Best Album in Europe, will be performed with piano and Portuguese guitar.

The Auditorio de Tenerife offers this Saturday (5 October), at 7.30 p.m., a concert by the singer LINA_ at the Chamber Hall, which will unveil its acoustic improvements. The Portuguese artist will present Fado Camões, which revolves around the 16th-century poetry of Luís Vaz de Camões, commemorating the fifth centenary of his birth. The Transglobal World Music Charts (TWMC) voted this work the best album in Europe. The tickets are on sale for a single price of €15 and €5 for audiences under 30. There are discounts available.

This latest distinction adds to the awards already won by this project and to the more than 40 concerts performed and programmed this year all over Europe. The concert will feature LINA_, voice and synthesiser, Ianina Khmelik, piano and synthesiser, and Pedro Viana, Portuguese guitar player.

In the studio, the guitar of the Portuguese Pedro Viana (who has played with Mariza, Ana Moura, and Carminho, among others, and who remains connected to the fado universe) is combined with the piano, the keyboards, and the exceptional arrangements of John Baggott, a musician and composer who has worked with Massive Attack and Portishead. Likewise featured in this work is Ianina Khmelik (piano and synthesisers), whose talent has secured her a place with the contemporary Remix Ensemble of the Casa da Música Concert Hall and with the Porto Symphony Orchestra - and we must not forget about her role in several innovative electronic music projects.

Fado Camões is now presented after the remarkable success of the album Lina_Raül Referee, which was presented in 2020 at the Auditorio de Tenerife to sold-out audiences and in which LINA_ recorded the repertoire of Amália Rodrigues in collaboration with the prominent Spanish producer who has worked on albums by Rosalía and Thurston Moore. LINA_ is now tackling the poetry of Camões, one of the greatest exponents of Portuguese culture, strengthening her hold as a composer in some of the songs.

LINA_ has been awarded multiple prizes and nominations in Portugal and internationally. Currently, the singer is working with Justin Adams, the prestigious British musician and producer whose track record includes close work with the legendary Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) and productions for artists like Rachid Taha, Tinariwen, and Jah Wobble—as well as the latest album by Souad Massi.

Adams grew up in Egypt and that experience later led him to work with several artists to explore the connection between the blues and the traditional forms of Maghrebi music. The influences of these unique African beats on fado are well documented; thus, the ideas that Justin Adams brings to this new creation by LINA_ may surprise music lovers.

Continuing her unique vision of reinventing Portuguese fado, a genre classified by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, LINA_ is set to present audiences with yet another fresh perspective.
