The programme on Tuesday (3 December) also includes works by Enrique Granados and Frederic Mompou

As part of its piano concerts, the Auditorio de Tenerife offers next Tuesday (3 December), at 7:30 p.m. in the Chamber Hall, a concert by the pianist Alba Ventura. The second part of the programme is a performance of Chopin's twenty-four piano preludes. The tickets are on sale for €15, €5 for those under 30. Alba Ventura visits the Auditorio de Tenerife with a programme that explores the inspiration of two accomplished composers, Mompou and Granados, who reinterpreted and, to some extent, paid homage to the work of two other renowned artists: the Polish pianist and composer Frédéric Chopin and the Spanish painter and printmaker Francisco Goya.

The concert starts with an explicit reference on which to reinterpret and redirect all artistic potential: Mompou's variations on a theme of Chopin, a refined and austere creation based on Chopin's Prelude in A major. In his variations, Mompou's exquisite harmonic treatment and innate sensitivity allowed him to achieve an optimally full and rich sound with an impressive economy of resources.

The Catalan pianist will then perform two works by Enrique Granados: Goyescas and El Pelele. The paintings of Goya inspired the first one on exhibit in the Prado Museum in Madrid. Initially subtitled Los majos enamorados (The Gallants in Love), the pieces evoke a gallant Spain that Granados wished to personalise: El Pelele (The Strawman) is based on a final sketch of Goya that eventually served as a model for the creation of a tapestry. A fresh and clever portrayal that, over time, has become one of his most famous works.

After the intermission, Alba Ventura will offer the audience Chopin's Preludes, representing the maximum expression of simplicity and purity that eludes any attempted classification. The preludes were composed in the 24 major and minor keys in order of the circle of fifths; they are admirable in their diversity and exquisite harmonic richness.

Born in Barcelona, Alba Ventura debuted as a concert soloist when she was 13 years old with the Cadaqués Orchestra conducted by Sir N. Marriner in San Sebastian and at the National Music Auditorium in Madrid. Her career as a soloist has flourished since then, with invitations to perform at venues such as the Wigmore Hall, the Barbican and St. Martin in the Fields church, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Musikverein Vienna, the Cité de la Musique in Paris and the Svetlanovsky Hall in Moscow, among others. She has also performed at the most important concert halls in Spain, Bogota and Auckland. Alba Ventura is also a professor at the Liceu Higher Conservatory of Music in Barcelona.
