B. B. King Spiritual
Auditorio de Tenerife hosts gospel group Chicago Mass Choir in concert presenting their album B. B. King Spiritual.
Chicago Mass Choir, through respect and loyalty to the gospel tradition, presented B.B. King Spiritual at Christmas of 2023, a heartfelt tribute to the king of blues and legend of American popular music. In B.B. King Spiritual, Chicago Mass Choir reproduces the pure gospel music that the great maestro recorded in 1959, on an album that was an emotive return to the hymns of the churches of his childhood in Mississippi. Chicago Mass Choir, with this tribute to B. B. King, is once again bringing to the stages of the present the old hymns that bring back the fire and beauty of the past.
B.B. King Sings Spirituals (1959) was released by the label Crown Records. As the 10 cuts of the album show, all of his art sank its roots deep into the field of gospel, the instrumental section is that of the churches of childhood, organ, piano, bass, and drums, with lots of clapping, great choral backing and no guitar.
King’s singing on this extraordinary album, for those who only know the great blues guitarist, is a revelation in songs such as the joyful Old Time Religion and the very lively Army of The Lord. B. B. King Spiritual is a production by Grandes del Goóspel (Gospel Greats), the main benchmark for the organisation of concerts, events, and festivals relating to the gospel genre in our country. The musical direction of the project was entrusted to Mr. Percy E. Gray, record producer, composer, and choir director, winner at the Stellar Awards and at the prestigious Gospel Music Workshop Excellence.
The programme of this spiritual tribute to B. B. King is completed with a selection of songs loved by the European public and contemporary gospel pieces.
Access is only allowed to children over five years of age.
