Nostalgia cubana
The Auditorio de Tenerife presents, as part of its jazz programme, the concert Nostalgia cubana by Ariel Brínguez.
Nostalgia cubana (Cuban Nostalgia) is an elegant selection of great songs from Ariel’s homeland, Cuba. A personal and exceptional project, where the musician opts to show a rather intimate musical Cuba. It is also a tribute to the forms cultivated by great artists such as Bola de Nieve, José Antonio Méndez, Eliseo Grenet, Cachaito López and Juanito Márquez.
The concert includes melodies and lyrics that have moved several generations and continue to move us, regardless of status or location. Brínguez takes inspiration from the most danceable Afro-Cuban rhythms; from beautiful boleros, danzón songs and the distinguished Cuban filin. He ventures down a path on which he breaks down each of the feelings evoked by songs of famous poems set to music, which now belong to a universal cultural heritage. Nostalgia cubana manages to recreate the sonorous atmosphere of the Cuba of the '50s, commemorating it. In turn it nourishes current musical conceptions in a repertoire that constantly evokes passion as the essence of humanity.
