Handel’s Rinaldo is back for all the family. A fantastic story told on a chess board.

One of the most famous operas by Handel, with libretto in Italian by Giacomo Rossi inspired by Torquato Tasso’s poem La Gerusalemme liberata, it was premiered on 24 Febraury 1711 at the Queen’s Theatre in Haymarket, London.

In the time of the crusades, the evil Saracen sorceress Armida kidnaps sweet Almirena to distract her fiancée Rinaldo, the bravest paladin among the Christians and on the battlefield, but she ends up falling in love with him. Fierce battles, spells, and beautiful melodies like the famous ‘Lascia ch’io pianga’ make this title one of the best-liked of Handel’s work. This Ópera de Tenerife production is an adaptation to be enjoyed by the whole family.
