METAMORPHOSIS
Works by R. Strauss, Boïldieu and R. Vaughan-Williams are James Judd’s proposal to play again with the OST. The British conductor’s fruitful career has led him to conduct orchestras in Israel, Korea, the United States and New Zealand, having a very productive relationship with the latter, proof of which are his many recordings for the Naxos label. This programme includes a novelty with François-Adrien Boïldieu, a French composer from the transition period between Classicism and Romanticism. Best known for his opera creations, his 1801 harp concerto in C major is still a reference in the concert repertoire for this instrument. As for the soloist, the Belgian harpist Anneleen Leaerts is one of the leading players of this instrument. In December 2010, she was appointed solo harpist of the Wiener Philharmoniker and the press says of her that she displays a dynamic delicacy, nuance in articulation and incredible skill.
