Auditorio de Tenerife and the Fundación MAPFRE Guanarteme offer five specialist training courses for technicians

Auditorio de Tenerife, under the Cabildo de Tenerife’s Department of Culture run by councillor Enrique Arriaga, and the Fundación MAPFRE Guanarteme start their third Courses on Live Show Production. The first one, on the analysis of acoustic systems, started yesterday Monday, the 2nd, and is taught by Mateu Coll Morey, who gives seminars and technical support at the company Meyer Sound.

The island director of Culture, Alejandro Krawietz, said that “this is the third time both institutions jointly offer this specialist training for the island’s technicians. The courses improve the professional skills and job opportunities of the young in addition to widening the work options for the veterans”.

Esther Martel, director of the Fundación MAPFRE Guanarteme, pointed out the importance of this training programme, which they have offered with Auditorio de Tenerife for three years now and that “reflects the commitment of the Fundación with the cultural sector of the islands, the professionals, especially at this complex times due to the pandemic”.

Martel encouraged students and professionals of the island “to make the most of this impasse due to COVID-19 and turn it into an opportunity to improve their knowledge and make their way into Canarian show business, by taking part in these courses, which are taught by professionals with wide experience both on the islands and mainland Spain”.

The welcoming event was attended by the manager of Auditorio de Tenerife, Daniel Cerezo, and the coordinator of the Tenerife office of Fundación MAPFRE Guanarteme, José Martín Guerrero. The teacher, Mateu Coll, said it was the first course he was teaching after the beginning of the health crisis last March and encouraged the students to participate in the classes.

In 2020 there are five intensive courses on artistic-technical subjects available. The aim is to improve the knowledge of both the islands’ entertainment professionals and students. After the course on Acoustics Systems I and II, comes a course in lighting for theatre, musicals and dance; a course in stage management for live shows; course in video techniques applied to stage design and a foundation course in technical production.

The courses will be held at Auditorio de Tenerife facilities that will make available all the technical, material, and human resources needed. Every speaker in the courses are professionals who have previously collaborated with the Auditorio de Tenerife, have wide experience in their field and know the working context of shows both on the islands and in mainland Spain.

Thanks to the collaboration of Fundación MAPFRE Guanarteme, and taking into account the special circumstances due to COVID-19, the courses have a discount, so enrolment for professionals is 30 € + IGIC per person and course for a maximum of seven people; students and unemployed, free with eight places available.
