This week the Contemporary Music Festival (FMUC) continues with the programme with three concerts and a composers' gathering at the Auditorio de Tenerife

The FMUC continues with the programme at the Auditorio de Tenerife, a cultural venue linked to the Department of Culture of Tenerife Island Council that is managed by its island's Minister of Culture, Enrique Arriaga. Three concerts and a composers gathering comprise the proposal that includes the Première of Afrocán, the new work by Francis Hernández.

The concert Homenaje takes place on Wednesday. 15 June at 7:30 p.m. at the Chamber Hall. It pays tribute to the progress made by the teaching of percussion in Tenerife for more than 30 years in the field of classical percussion; and to the people who encouraged that development.

The percussion pupils from the Professional Music Conservatoire of Tenerife, the current and old Higher Music Conservatory of the Canaries, the Municipal Music and Dance School La Orotava, the Music School of Puerto de la Cruz and the band Banda Nivaria de Arafo play during the programme. Tickets are for free, but they have to be withdrawn from the website or box office.

The new work by the composer Francis Hernández, Afrocán, will be prémiered on the June at 7:30 p.m. at the Chamber Hall. It is a suite written for an ensemble of popular instruments inspired by the document and exhibition of the same title created by the Canary Islands-born sculptor Martin Chirino.

The percussion group of the Higher Music Conservatory of the Canaries, Pablo Díaz (El Hierro flute), Jeremías Martín (accordion), Félix Morales (multi-instrumentalist) and Hernández will play this new creation. The tickets are already on sale.

In addition, this concert will be played on Thursday morning as a teaching session for hundreds of schoolchildren that have already worked with the teaching and musical resources offered by the Auditorio de Tenerife to schools.

Finally, on Friday [17] pm two complementary but different activities will take place. At 5:30 p.m. at the Sala Puerto, Auditorio, the composers Diego Navarro, Francis Hernández, Laura Vega, Pedro Vicedo, Samuel Aguilar and Rubens Askenar will gather. The discussion will be coordinated by Paula Hernández Dionis.

Then at 7:30 p.m., the TAK-NARA Percussion Group (Javi Rodríguez and Paco Díaz) will offer a concert at the Sala Castillo. It is a concert formed by works by the composers participating in the gathering, like La consagración del perfume, by Laura Vega, A Taburiente by Francis Hernández and Orionis, by Samuel Aguilar Access for both activities through the car park.
