FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE MÚSICA ANTIGUA DE TENERIFE (FIMANTE)
In June 2018 we opened the first Festival Internacional de Música Antigua de Tenerife [Tenerife Early Music International Festival] (Fimante), which includes the series Nova Ars Organorum, a programme of concerts to revive sounds from the past throughout the year that will be held at Auditorio de Tenerife and churches across the island.
The level music has reached in Tenerife coupled with the number or refurbished organs and their diversity, do deserve an international festival to encourage actively listening to Early Music and organ in Tenerife.
Tenerife Early Music International Festival (Fimante) + Nova Ars Organorum wish to enhance the heritage and musical value to the benefit of a plural community, working from multicultural backgrounds to guard their heritage and its music. In addition to positioning Tenerife in the map of Early and Organ Music in the European circuit, we wish to show the Island from a different cultural perspective: encouraging cultural tourism with the help of our young performers, our emblematic buildings and those instruments that time and being at a crossroads between three continents have given us.
Fostered by the Cabildo, through the Area Tenerife 2030 scheme and with the coordination of Auditorio de Tenerife, Fimante + Nova Ars Organorum join the island cultural scene to revive repertoires both in traditional and new venues in the city. With the support of Canaries players of period instruments, historic organs reconditioning, the latest interdisciplinary research, and the historical-geographic location, we hope to be keeping and spreading our cultural heritage for future generations.
Conrado Álvarez is in charge of the artistic direction at Fimante while Nova Ars Organorum is headed by musicologist Rosario Álvarez.
