A protégé of Seiji Ozawa and Leonard Bernstein, Japanese conductor Eiji Oue who has built his career in Japan, the United States and Spain, will be conducting Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. Covering a wide time scope, he will start with the Overture of the celebrated musical by Leonard Bernstein “West Side Story” to go on with Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto. Trained as a violinist, this is the only concerto by the Finnish composer. It requires a soloist of impeccable technique who avoids vain ostentation. Korean-North American Sarah Chang, a child prodigy and a star today, will play having recorded it for Emi first. The show is rounded off with Bohemian composer Dvořák and his Symphony nº 7, perhaps not as popular as his New World Symphony, but quite formidable in itself.

Leonard Bernstein Candide, Overture
Jean Sibelius Violin concerto in D minor, op. 47
Antonin Dvořák Symphony nº 7 in D minor, op. 70

Concert included in the Season Package and the Spring Package.
