This co-production between Spain, France and Canada will reach us on Sunday, starring Mal Pelo’s Pep Ramis

On Sunday, the 1st at 7:30 pm the Sala de Cámara of  Auditorio de Tenerife, a cultural venue under the Cabildo de Tenerife’s Department of Culture run by councillor Enrique Arriaga, is hosting The Mountain, the Truth & the Paradise. This contemporary dance show is part of the Festival de las Artes del Movimiento FAM. You can buy tickets, at a single price of 8 euros, up to two hours before the performance starts.

This is a co-production of Catalonian company Mal Pelo with Festival de Tardor de Catalunya Temporada Alta 2017, the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, France, and Agora de la Danse in Montreal, Canada.

The piece emerges from the need the protagonist, dancer Pep Ramis, felt to building a very personal fiction, to update the experience of his latest work and research in his present artistic interests. Working solo at 50 also involves revisiting the tools gathered throughout a long career creating for the stage.

The Mountain, the Truth & the Paradise is a poetic world that wonders about the meaning of the divine and the vulgar, spirituality and ignorance, beauty and banality. The performer’s ability to transform in a blank, empty space and the accuracy of gestures and the voice are the fundamental lines in the dramaturgy of a piece that displays a changing, exciting, highly stimulating journey.

Throughout the creative process, Ramis has had the collaboration of Jordi Casanovas and María Muñoz as directors, August Viladomat in the lighting design and Fanny Thollot who penned the soundtrack.

Dancer, actor and stage director, Pep Ramis has been a member of Mal Pelo, along with María Muñoz since 1989. The dance company bases its work on the constant search of languages, which they have used to create countless shows that have toured the world and have won major prizes. In 2001 they promoted the centre for creation and interchange with other art forms L’animal a l’esquena.
